Thank you to Margie Brennan!

Margie Brennan leads the Portsmouth AgInnovation Farm educational programming and is the Portsmouth School District Science Coach.

In December 2019, ERICD partnered with Portsmouth Middle School (PMS) to create Portsmouth AgInnovation Farm (AgInnovation).  When it was time to start working with the students, we found ourselves in COVID lockdown.  However, that didn't discourage AgInnovation co-founder and education director Margie Brennan from running a virtual, after-school club for PMS students to learn about agriculture. Through this class, the kids learned about sustainable farming and were asked to envision what they thought would be important things to have on a farm if they were to build one from scratch.

Because of her engaging manner of education, the club was able to design the blueprint for AgInnovation, and that same exact design grew into reality on a 5 acre plot of land up the street from PMS. The kids took their plans drawn in the classroom and created the vibrant, interactive, community farm program that we know and love today!

None of this would have been possible without Margie Brennan, who continues to lead this project and provide an exceptional level of science education to our community’s youth.
