Earth Month in Review

April 2026

April pushed us outside, into gardens, onto beaches, down sidewalks, and into conversations with neighbors who care deeply about where we live. Here's a look at what we accomplished together.

❋ Native Seedling Sale

.More than 1,150 native plants — Black-Eyed Susans, milkweed, cardinal flower, mountain mint — headed home to gardens across the region. Every seedling planted is future habitat for bees, butterflies, birds, and healthier waterways.

❋ Rain Barrel Make & Take Workshops

54 community members built rain barrels to reduce stormwater runoff and keep pollutants out of local rivers and Narragansett Bay. Participants left with more than a barrel — they left with a connection between individual action and environmental health.

❋ Plogging Events

Volunteers removed 462 pounds of litter from roadsides, beaches, and shorelines across Rhode Island — at the Rhode Races Newport Marathon course, along Memorial Blvd near Easton's Beach, and at Fogland Beach in Tiverton.

Newport 187.5 lbs

Easton's Beach 21.5lbs

Fogland 153 lbs

Earth Month 2026 became one of our most active and community-driven seasons yet. Thank you to every volunteer, partner, attendee, donor, and supporter who helped make this possible.

  • "April reminded us: conservation isn't a cause. It's a habit, a neighborhood, a choice made every day."

  • "This has been such a worthwhile investment in myself."
