At Portsmouth’s AgInnovation Farm, students feed the future!

Most people think conservation starts with protecting land.

In reality, it starts with education.

If we want future generations to understand food systems, soil health, water quality, and environmental stewardship, we need to give them opportunities to experience those things firsthand, not just read about them in a textbook.

That's what makes AgInnovation Farm in Portsmouth so important.

Students aren't learning agriculture as a historical concept or environmental science as an abstract idea. They're growing food, caring for animals, solving real-world problems, and seeing firsthand how conservation and agriculture work together.

These experiences build more than knowledge. They build connection—to the land, to local food systems, and to the responsibility that comes with caring for both.

We're grateful to The Providence Journal for highlighting the work being done at AgInnovation Farm and the educators helping shape the next generation of environmental stewards.
