Insect House Workshop on November 13 Protects the Environment by Encouraging Biodiversity

Eastern Rhode Island Conservation District (ERICD) and Firefly Mandalas invite the public to join a workshop to build an insect house on November 13, 2021 at 10:00AM at Arrowhead Farm, 630 Puncatest Neck Road, Tiverton, RI.

The workshop will be led by local Eco-Artist, Meredith Brower, of Firefly Mandalas. Insect houses promote biodiversity by providing shelter for a range of insects that are beneficial to our environment.

A $50 registration fee includes all tools and materials needed to build one insect house, as well as refreshments.

Jessica Cullinan, ERICD Board Member, said, “Landscaped gardens at our homes are beautiful, but they often do not provide appropriate habitat for insects. Adding an insect house provides shelter for hibernation for insects that help to pollinate our flowers and crops. A healthy insect population also provides food to birds and other animals. The insect houses we will build are made of all-natural materials and will be beneficial to the environment for years to come.”

Due to capacity limitations, very few tickets are available. Sign up online at www.insecthouse.eventbrite.com.
